WAUWATOSA, Wis. — October 1, 2026 — RPRD Diagnostics, LLC, a Wisconsin-based precision medicine and pharmacogenomics company, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, marking a decade of advancing the application of genetics to medication response and helping move pharmacogenomics from scientific discovery toward routine clinical care.
Founded in 2016 as a spin-off of the Medical College of Wisconsin, RPRD Diagnostics was established with a clear vision: to help make precision medicine more accessible by providing clinicians, researchers, and drug developers with innovative pharmacogenomics testing, analysis, and support services.
Ten years later, that vision continues to drive the company.
“Ten years ago, we believed pharmacogenomics could fundamentally change how medications are selected and prescribed,” said Dr. Ulrich Broeckel, Founder and CEO of RPRD Diagnostics. “Today, that vision is a reality. What makes this milestone especially meaningful is not simply how much RPRD has grown, but how much the science has advanced and how many patients and partners have benefited from the work.”
From Scientific Research to Clinical Impact
RPRD’s roots extend well beyond its founding as a company. Its scientific team has decades of experience in genomics research, including early work with genome-wide analysis, microarray technologies, pharmacogenomics, and next-generation sequencing. The company’s history reflects a longstanding commitment to translating genomic discoveries into practical clinical applications.
Following its launch, RPRD became an early provider of comprehensive pharmacogenomics testing, including its Whole Pharmacogenomics ScanTM (WPSTM), designed to evaluate a broad range of genetic variants associated with medication response. Today, RPRD describes WPS as a comprehensive, customizable, and scalable clinical PGx platform capable of analyzing thousands of markers across nearly 1,200 pharmacogenomics genes.
Over the past decade, RPRD has continued to expand its testing capabilities to include targeted pharmacogenomics panels, rapid genotyping, custom testing solutions, and pharmacogenomics services supporting clinical trials and drug development.
Advancing More Inclusive Pharmacogenomics
A central component of RPRD’s work has been addressing the need for pharmacogenomic testing that performs effectively across diverse populations.
Genetic variation can differ substantially among populations, and historically many genomic studies and testing approaches have relied disproportionately on populations of European ancestry. RPRD has worked with academic and healthcare partners to advance more comprehensive approaches to pharmacogenomic testing and improve the ability to identify clinically relevant variants across diverse populations.
That commitment remains central to RPRD’s current Precision HealthPGx approach, which is designed to provide actionable pharmacogenomic information across diverse populations.
A Decade of Collaboration and Scientific Leadership
RPRD’s growth has been built through collaboration across clinical medicine, academic research, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare.
Over the years, the company and its scientific team have contributed to more than 110 peer-reviewed publications and collaborated with leading healthcare organizations. RPRD also participates in initiatives and organizations advancing pharmacogenomics implementation, including the CDC’s GeT-RM program, PharmVar, and the PGx Global Research Network.
RPRD’s laboratory operations are supported by CAP, CLIA, and New York certifications, reflecting the company’s commitment to quality and clinical laboratory standards.
Looking Toward the Next Decade
As RPRD enters its second decade, the company is focused on continuing to expand access to high-quality pharmacogenomics testing while developing new approaches to support personalized care and drug development.
“Ten years is an important milestone, but we see it as a beginning rather than a midpoint,” said Broeckel. “The science continues to evolve. Our goal is to remain at the forefront of that evolution—developing innovative, evidence-based solutions that help clinicians make more informed decisions, help researchers accelerate discovery, and ultimately improve patient care.”
RPRD’s mission is to integrate precision medicine into medical practice, clinical research, and drug development by delivering innovative pharmacogenomics solutions and high-quality customer support. Its vision is to become an innovative leader in precision medicine by providing accessible and affordable technologies that help transform healthcare and improve lives.
As RPRD celebrates its first decade, the company remains committed to the principle that inspired its name:
Right Patient. Right Drug.
